Taken place within the Assembly Rooms in Scotland's capital city, The SLE Conference for 2024 was themed 'Resilience: Building Successful Business for the Future'.
With influential figures in attendance including Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sanwar; and Scottish Minister for Agriculture & Connectivity Jim Fairlie MSP; Edinburgh was host to a variety of hot-topic discussions.
With a vision to make a prosperous and sustainable future for rural Scotland - SLE support and champion rural businesses that provide economic, social and environmental benefit to the Scottish countryside. However, as the country continues to recover from recent economic turmoil as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Brexit and war in Ukraine - rural communities have been especially hit hard. We can take inspiration from those in our rural communities as they continue to bounce back from the challenges and hard sacrifices thrown their way.
'Timothy Bradshaw spoke uniquely about personal resilience, applying some of his real life experiences to the rural sector in a captivating manner. He really brought home the importance of investing in the resilience of others - or passing it forward so to speak. '
Here is what Tim had to say after the event:
The rural community is something I’m very proud to be a part of here in Scotland and is currently witnessing amazing pressure from legislative and climate uncertainty.
The answer to building resilience is always to lead rather than manage. Focus on the people. They will ultimately solve the problem.
